Men Take Charge At The Oscars

It seems fitting that our first blog for 2010 be all about the Oscars.
Its the main occasion for all our favourites to come together and dress in their finest. As the designers try to out do each other and the question is more "Who you in?" rather than "Who you with?".

Although it is the women who dominate the red carpet and the majority of the media attention focuses on their gowns, the men are equally battling to look sharp. It is the best time for all designers to show off their talents and prove they are worthy to be part of the greatest award ceremony on the Planet.

Fashion and Oscars have always gone hand in hand. British Class, Italian Cuts, American Designs, all the A list celebs are seen sporting the latest tuxedo and black tie suits, each one of them looking incredibly sharp in their brilliant designs creating stream less silhouettes.

This year was the year of Tom Ford. Since leaving Gucci, this man has got better and better...He even directed the Oscar nominated film "A Single Man" meaning he had more of a presence at the Oscars then just making the actors look good. He is also the only man at the Oscars who can say he made his own clothing.

Fighting for the British was Burberry and surprisingly it was the Americans showing off it's style. Woody Harrelson and funny man Jason Bateman were looking sharp in their tux's, but the true battle came from Ryan Seacrest and Jake Gyllenhaal, both which could be declared as best dressed male.

And pushing for the Italians is always George Clooney, who even with the added grey hair on full display, looks impeccably smart in his Georgio Armani. Also "Best Actor" winning Jeff Bridges played his part by sporting a brilliant Gucci Tux, accessorised with one of the best beards in the industry.

A brilliant year for all the designers with all the gents looks incredibly sharp on the red carpet. However there is always an exception and this year it goes to the amazing Robert Downey Jr. A legend on screen but didn't quite hit the mark on the night. Although his Stylish Lanvin suit looks awesome with its slim cut and its sharp peak labels, the black trainers, shades and blue tie just don't go with the theme of the Oscars.

So roll on to next year where once again the fashion designers will battle it out as much as the films.
